...oh by the way, Stacey darling, yes, it's me!
:)
(just a smartass horsin' around)
if jw's can be(or should i say are) df'd for smoking, why aren't people df'd for obesity.. it seems they say that you are violating your body and hurting it from smoking but i've never seen a person live over the age of 80 that was obese.
just seems like being obese is worse than smoking.

Praise Cosmo, I think the light is getting brighter and brighter!
Yes, clearly people SHOULD be disfellowshipped for obesity.
...oops! There goes half of the American and European congregations (and their financial contributions)!
Time for "flickering light" on this subject, I'm afraid.
someone reported in another thread that ray franz has grown concerned that his books have not helped those who have read them because it left them with nowhere to go.
i'm reminded of a phrase that i heard repeatedly during my 30 years as a watchtower toady.
"if this isn't the truth, then there is no truth".
"If this isn't the Truth, then there is no truth."
Isn't that like saying that if Santa Claus isn't real, nothing is real?
If this isn't the truth, then SOMETHING ELSE must be the truth.
A good place to begin is with REALITY - the evidence of your senses.
I've heard of Witnesses who said that if the FDS said the sky is green, then it would be green. To me, that suggests that the person saying it is prepared to discount the evidence of his senses and also knows that it is possible that he'll be asked to testify to something that is self-evidently untrue, e.g., that the sky is green.
Yes, I think that Ray Franz has culpability, and yes, I think he may also be a victim. I do not think it is his responsibility to provide a substitute dream for those who have risen from their slumbers with a hazy memory of a nightmare.
Smell the coffee and get to work. If neccessary, keep telling yourself, "it was only a bad dream, it was only a bad dream."
i dont know if i have mentioned it in any previous posts, but i am a metis.
metis are people of mixed indian and non-indian descent.
we form a distinct national / cultural group in canada, with our own history, or own identity and culture, and our own political movements.
The Witnesses are a post-industrial revolution white MAN's religion. A couple of guys standing around a press...
guy1: How we gonna make money with this thing?
guy2: Well, we could print our own money...
guy1: Counterfeit? Jeezus H. Christ, are you crazy? If we don't watch out, they'll throw you in the Tower of London for just saying that!
guy2: Hey, wait a minute... Jeezus H. christ... Watch... Tower... I got it! We'll start our own religion!
guy1: Are you crazy? Religion is a snare and a racket!
guy2: Let's hold off a little before we tell them that..
what is the society's view on internet use?
i get the impression it is discouraged.. i also ask because the society over the years have had a love hate relationship with technology, extolling it's virtues one minute (such as in their early use of colour film and portable record players), and then blaming it for many of todays ills.. interestingly, i just found a section in the proclaimers book, stating that the staffing levels at watchtower construction sites around the globe had been reduced by using modern technology, while other articles suggest that technology is an evil in that it will put people out of jobs.. p.s.
i only have literature up to 1995, but the number of references to technology in awake!
Absolutely the WTB&TS is opposed to the internet.
I'm surprised they never came out against the telephone.
hi to all in the forum.
i am new here and would like to briefly share how i arrived here.
i was born and raised a witness.i'm in my 40's and married.i had some doubts as regards to some docrinal teachings and changes in the 80's.
Hi Allen, good to have you here.
I'm curious - you were raised a witness and spent 7 years in college?
How'd you swing that? Are you a member of the (Micheal) Jackson family, or the artist formerly known as Prince?
You may eventually find that the most trouble will come when the WTB&TS doesn't smell your fear anymore. That is their favorite aroma, you know.
"I love the smell of FEAR; it's the smell of CONTROL."
- Me, before I died
neone got ne good excuses for me to give friends and family members as to why i have missed so many meetings?
they gonna get suspisious if i keep sayin i been sick...
Your brother has it right. This is not the time to rush off madly in all directions. Stop. Think. Strategize.
You cannot remain economically dependent on the Witnesses, so you have to find another job. try to find a job that gets you out of the neighborhood, then find yourself a place to live that is on the OTHER side of your new job, just to put even more distance between you and the old territory.
The biggest difficulty can be the social one - how do you fill your soon-to-be-nearly-empty social circle? Generally speaking, although it is good to be friendly with the folks you work with, (ESPECIALLY CHIX) it is not real good in the long run if they're your only friends. Are you thinking about going back to school? Maybe you can squeeze in just one night class at the local Community College, but that is a good start, and it will help you find new friends.
Listen to Tom Leykis on the radio. He's inspired by god.
i have just finished making phone calls informing the family of the death of my stepfather.
i was an adult when he married my mother, but i loved him very much.
he was a wonderful man.. although he was a faithful jw, for his entire life (he was born to it) he was a really good man, and a true christian, i believe.
My condolences Marilyn. As others have already said, it sounds as if he was one of the truly good ones.
As most of us here have learned, there are truly good ones everywhere: the Watchtower doesn't hold a patent on human kindness.
hello everyone: i post this upodate from time to time for general awareness.
normally, i have about 20 blocks per day on my firewall, usually unused port access attempts, sub-seven trojans, and one or two hacking attempts.. but, recently, in the last month, my security logs have doubled and tripled on a daily basis.
about two or three weeks ago, i had an all time high of over 170 security alerts.
Typical JehovahOS ("the system that shall not pass away") error message:
"You execrable fool! Who told you to move your mouse pointer?
By relying on your own understanding your have completely hosed
your system!
Do you want to reboot now?
OK"
bicker and complain all day?
why not try to show some love around here?
just wondering.... with love,
That's because Jehovah told us to put them all to the sword.
"Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do."
